Cavity Detection Dye

Is a little bit of decay O. K., or would you want it eliminated from your mouth and from the mouths of your family? If there were a way we could remove the beginning stage of decay without drilling and without shots, would you be interested?

For years the medical community has been using dyes to detect diseases and conditions such as heart disease, lung disease, tumors, blocked arteries, etc.

Well, great news - modern science has prevailed again. We now have a decay disclosing dye that will detect even the tiniest speck of decay. In fact, it will even detect "high potential" areas of decay before the decay even gets a foot hold. It only makes sense for dentistry to take advantage of the prevention capabilities that the dyes give us. Those of you who have been told in the past you do not have decay may in fact have decay. The only way to be sure is to use the dye. (The old way of detecting with a probe is only 25 % effective compared to the dye).

CariFree

New Ways to Prevent Cavities Before they Start:

Tooth decay (cavities) is caused by a bacterial infection on the teeth. CariFree employs advanced infection testing and treatment technology to promote long term dental health, instead of simply treating symptoms by filling cavities.

The advanced CariFree system measures the magnitude of harmful bacteria on your teeth. If harmful decay-causing bacteria are identified, the CariFree treatment plan may be prescribed by your dentist.  The quick and easy CariScreen test  takes only one minute to determine if you are at a low, moderate, or high risk of developing cavities in the future.

Since risk factors change over time, it is recommended that you take the CariScreen test once per year.

Ask for more information about the CariFree® system.

Diagnodent

Along with cavity detection dye, the newest technology is a small laser instrument called the diagnodent, the diagnodent scans your teeth with a harmless laser light looking for hidden decay. A pen like probe gliches over the tooth surfaces checking for decay. A number scale and alarm signals the operator when there are signs of hidden deccay. The procedureis completely safe and painless.Great for adults and children.

Air-Abrasive Dentistry

Air-abrasive dentistry is a safe technique for kids and adults that uses a stream of air to carry tiny particles to the tooth that gently and precisely removes any decay. There is no heat or vibration associated with this procedure which means truly painless dentistry and no need for anesthesia in 80 - 85% of patients.

Dr. Mueller has been using this technique for over 15 years and is a certified instructor for air-abrasive dentistry by the Texas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies.

Laser Dentistry

The use of the laser in dentistry is still on the cutting edge.
Dr. Mueller can treat gum tissue problems with great patient comfort and healing time that is almost none. When used with surgical procedures, the laser decreases the amount of discomfort, swelling and infection.

The bacteria that cause periodontal disease can be "sterilized" with the laser. This helps to keep the production of bacteria to a minimum and reduce further infection and tooth loss.

Dr. Mueller also utilizes the laser to enhance the impression of the prepared tooth in order to get a precise fitting crown, making it more comfortable and secure.
